This release contains sounds I made and edited to be used as backgrounds in the film "A Glitch in the Matrix" - I love soloing and listening to the background and room tone tracks in a film sound design while I'm working on a mix, and I've always thought they would make an interesting release on their own. Hard cuts between room tones with an unknown but internal logic. The final track here is an unused version of a cue from the film. It's an arrangement/performance of a part song by Arthur Sullivan and Henry Fothergill Chorley from 1868.

The "Work Study" series is composed of sketches, works in progress, archival material, rejected cues from film or theater, field recordings, experiments, live recordings and more. With an emphasis on beat driven material and field recordings, these collages are presented without context, mixed together into two "sides" live to cassette. Some of this material may have been heard before, some may be heard again in the future, reimagined or not. These are not finished albums, but rather a window into an ongoing process of music and sound making.

Listening to this a few years on, Chapter 319 feels almost melancholic, a reminder of the time where police abolition had nearly mainstream appeal. The tracks still make me furious at the bullshit cops continue to get away with. dninemfive
